Hong Kong Pools

As summer hits Hong Kong, so does the craving for a refreshing swim. Luckily, the city has no shortage of fabulous pools, whether it be rooftop, water-level, or indoor. Whether you’re marathon-lapping a pool first thing in the morning, or just chilling, cabana-style with a cocktail in hand watching the sunset, there’s something for every swim-inclination here.

Public swimming pools

Unless you’re lucky enough to have a pool in your backyard, you’ll need to hit one of the many government-run pools around town. With one or more 50m pools, plus a shallow pool for kids, these pools are a great option for anyone looking to get some exercise and rehydrate. They also offer a range of swimming sessions (between 6:30am-12:00pm, 1pm-6pm, and 7:00-10:00pm), so you can plan your swim around work or other commitments. Just make sure to bring a towel, hat, and sun cream.

The Peninsula Hong Kong

There’s no denying that the Peninsula is all about luxury undressed, and this opulent hotel’s swimming pool is no exception. Featuring a sleek Art Deco design, from the marbled Roman columns to the striped lounge chairs, this pool is straight out of a Gatsby movie. Plus, the stunning views of Hong Kong’s harbour will definitely entice anyone to waste away an afternoon here.

Island Shangri-La

Located in the heart of downtown, this stunning hotel pool is a must-visit for any local or tourist looking to cool off and relax. Complete with grass surrounds and stunning views of Victoria Harbour, this pool feels like a true oasis in the middle of the city. Though only available to members and hotel guests, you can easily purchase an exclusive staycation package through Klook that includes access to this impressive rooftop pool experience.

Cordis Hong Kong

If you’re not planning a full-on staycation at the hotel, a day pass is the next best thing! Located on the 42nd floor, this gorgeous rooftop pool features stunning views, a jacuzzi with underwater speakers and fiber optic lights (primed for a party), a spacious deck for lounging, cabanas, and a splash bar serving drinks and snacks.

There’s no doubt that this is one of the best rooftop pools in Hong Kong, and while it’s primarily exclusive to hotel guests, they do welcome outsiders for their weekend events. So if you’re a resident, or you just love to soak up the sun and the spectacular views, check out their schedule of events and get yourself on the guest list!
